I am using FreeBSD 4.8 + KDE 3.1.4,
when I complie it , it tell me there is no 'configdialog.h' and stopped. Could you give some suggestions about this?

I had exactly the same problem on my FreeBSD 4.8 + KDE 3.1.4 + Qt 3.2.1.
Using gmake instead of make fixed it.

Hi,

plastik rocks! It's the best-looking
windowdecoration ever.

I have 1 wish for it:

make the height of the titlebar
even a little smaller, 1 or 2 pixels.
The height of the titlebar should equal the height of the menubar, unless titlebar font is bigger.
In that case the titlebar should adapt it's height to the fontsize

And a problem (bug) I see:
the buttons are not really centered
when you are in fullscreen mode with
"Shrink borders for maximized windows"

They seem to have 0px distance to the top and right screen border, but still have a distance to the bottom of the titlebar.

Removing (or shrinkin) the borders lools very good IMHO, but I think the
buttons should be centered in the titlebar when maximized.
Just move them 2px down and 2px left, and it looks perfectly.

thanks for you contribution!

I think this is a bit problematic because the menubar height depends on the menu font and on the style you use, so it isn't possible to acquire it without some dark hacks... :o

This no bug, it's a feature. ;) Well, it looks a bit strange but it's easier to target the buttons, just throw the mouse to the upper right corner for the close button etc.

ok, about the titlebar height:
Maybe just make the "small" setting
just a little smaller. I agree that
using the menubar as reference would be ugly... ;-)

And about 2:
well... don't u find it looks better
centered? Now, for me it just looks, well, strange, as you called it...

And usability-wise, it only
helps (a little) for the close-button,
but not for the others.

This is so sweet!!
is there any chance that you can make a gtk version also?

If someone volunteers for creating a Gtk-Plastik, I would appreciate it
but I won't do this myself because I don't know much about Gtk style
development and are quite busy with another project at the moment,
sorry.

How do I make my kicker look like the screenshot? You don't have separators between your kicker elements? Looks really friggin' sweet.

The handles can be hidden by checking "KControl/Appearance&Themes/Panels/Advanced Options/Fade out applet handles" (or similar).

When in konqueror with a whole bunch of tabs open, buttons on the right side appear that let you move the tabs to the left and right. On other styles if you are all the way at the left or right, the cooresponding arrow is grayed out. Plastik doesn't do this.

I cannot reproduce this. For me, the arrows seem to fade out correctly.

I updated to the 0.3.8 version of Plastik (I removed the old version first) and now I have a strange problem. Buttons, scrollbars etc. are flat, as you can see in this screenshot: http://koti.mbnet.fi/ap88/kuvat/plastik_pieni.png There were no errors during compilation. Does somebody know how I can fix this or is it a bug?

Does it help to adjust the contrast slider in the kcontrol color dialog? You have to restart your applications after that to make changes take effect.

Thanks, that helped :) Well it wasn't so big problem :D btw, window decoration works now on my computer, i'm running RedHat 9 :)

Hello ceebx,

Great job, I love your widget style. I, however, encountered a glitch, if you will. After upgrading to qt-3.2, some qt apps like qt designer and psi, no longer obey or use the plastic widget style. However, some still do like kvirc.
I just I thought I should inform you about that.

Well, I'm running qt 3.2 myself and it works fine. Maybe there's something wrong with your ~/.qt/qt_plugins_3.2rc. However, I don't know how to fix it, maybe you have luck with kcontrol switching from Plastik to another style and back so the file gets updated...

I love this theme except for 1 thing.

The use of a double-wide gray line to indicate a shadow doesn't really cut it.

The Testform...3 example is a good case in point.

The raised frame looks kind of raised, but the sunken frame doesn't look sunken at all. I think this may be because the 'highlight' effect seems to be a white pixel inside a gray pixel, but the 'shadow' effect seems to be just 2 gray pixels. Since the raised frame has the 'highlight' effect on top, your eye gets the 3d cue right away. But the sunken frame has the shadow on top, and it just looks like a thicker line (no indication of where the 'light source' is).

Also, in the case of the groupbox inside the nested tab list, the bottom side of the groupbox and the bottom shadow of the tab list look essentially the same. The overall effect is of 'concentric rectangles', not 3d objects. Once again, the more common 'chiseled' groupbox effect gives you an indication of the 'light source' on all sides.

This theme has a nice, clean, 'less is more' feel to it. I just think it is a little bit too much 'less'. Do you think this is a valid point?

Thanks for your comment.
I see your point and I noticed, too, that it's a bit hard to recognize if the frames are raised or sunken.
But I have no idea of how to combine more common frames with the overall design of the rest. My goal of the style was to give all widgets and so the frames a typical look, like the 1 pixel contour, and not _primarily_ to maintain a correct 3d look/lightening etc. and would like to somehow keep it this way...
